This photography competition aims to showcase the power of imagery in capturing and communicating effective community-based health solutions. We believe that photography is a unique medium that can effectively capture and convey the progress, innovation, and collaborative efforts made in addressing public health challenges in communities.

 

The theme of this competition, “Reflections,” encourages photographers to capture the power of community-driven initiatives

in improving public health outcomes. We hope that this competition will inspire photographers to create and share powerful visual narratives that showcase the incredible work of individuals and organizations who are leading the way in building healthier and more resilient communities.

 

This APACPH ECN Photo Competition is jointly organized by APACPH Early Career Network and 54th APACPH Conference

2023 Organising Committee.


Terms and condition
  1. The contest is open to all APACPH member institutes who are photo enthusiasts aged 18 years old and above.
  2. The contest is open to entrants of all skill levels.
  3. Photo contest staff and judges are not allowed to enter the contest.
  4. The closing date to submit entries is 30 September 2023.
  5. Each contestant may submit multiple entries. While we welcome contestants to submit multiple entries, kindly note that only one prize or prize package will be awarded per contestant.
  6. The top 5 photos will be showcased at the 54th APACPH conference in Kuching, Sarawak, and the contestants will be informed. The announcement of the winners will take place during the conference and their photos will be featured on the website shortly after.
  7. Entry must be the contestant’s original work, must not have been awarded in any other photo contests and/or commercially published whether for news, advertising or otherwise.
  8. The organiser reserves the right to disqualify and remove any contestant from the contest without prior notification or without providing any reasons should the contestant be suspected of tampering with their entries or in breach of the terms and conditions herein.
  9. The organiser reserves the right to amend the Terms and Conditions without prior notice.
  10. Contestants must agree that by filling-out the Photo Contest Entry Form, they are giving APACPH the right to publish their photos to promote the APACPH Conference theme and its objectives. Clicking submit on the Photo Contest Entry Form means contestant comply with the official rules of the photo contest.
  11. Contestant shall assume full liability and responsibility in case of any liability, mishap, injury, loss, damage, claim or accident (including personal injury and/or death) resulting from their participation in the 54th APACPH photography competition, redemption and/or usage of the awards/prizes. The Organiser shall not be held responsible for any liability, mishap, loss, damage, claim or accident (including personal injury and/or death) in any manner whatsoever suffered by the participants as a result of their participation in 54th APACPH photography competition and/or the use of the awarded prizes.
  12. The judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence thereon will be entertained.
  13. Prizes will be determined by the 54th APACPH Organising Committee. A prize may not be transferred and must be accepted as awarded. A winner may not request cash or a substitute prize.
  14. As a token of appreciation for your participation in the contest, all contestants will receive e-certificates. These e-certificates will be sent via email to the address you provided during registration, so please ensure that your email address is correct to avoid any inconvenience.
Photo submission guidelines
  1. Entries can be taken from any camera and smartphones.
  2. A single “High Dynamic Range” (HDR) photo produced from multiple exposures and Black & White Photos are acceptable.
  3. Photo must be in JPEG or PNG format with at least 300 ppi and a maximum file size of 8 MB.
  4. All submitted photos must contain the original EXIF metadata information (devices used, ISO, Aperture Value, and Shutter Speed). However, there must be no border(s), logo(s), copyright marks, identifying marks, or any other visible references and/or marks on the image.
  5. Regarding photo manipulation and post processing, kindly read the notes on photo manipulation.
Note on photo manipulation
  1. Post processing images is allowed. This includes global adjustments to exposure, contrast, burning, dodging, cropping, sharpening, noise reduction, and tone. Minor cleaning of images is permitted, including the removal of backscatter, dust and scratches. HDR, panoramas, focus stacking or other techniques that involve using multiple images taken at the same time and place are also allowed.
  2. Photo manipulation is not allowed. The photo must be in its original state and accurately represent the subject matter and nature, without any manipulation such as adding, removing, moving, reversing, distorting subjects, adding glow, or any additional effects not originally present in the captured photo. Images that appear to be overly processed may be disqualified at the judges’ discretion.
